How Wall Air Conditioners Work:

Wall Air Conditioners are generally installed within a cut-out in a Wall in the Home or Office. The area is cooled and dehumidified (moisture removed) by means of an internal fan (front facing) located inside Wall Air Conditioners. The fan intakes warm air from the room and passes it through the Evaporator Coil (cooling core). Another fan located within the Conditioner generally located near the rear of the Conditioner and exposed to the outside environment, is used to cool the Condenser Core that contains high pressure Freon Gas. The Freon Gas has been heated in two (2) ways, first by the compressor friction and second by the removal of warm airflow from within the Room. The cooling process actually converts the Freon Gas back to a liquid which is then fed back to the suction side of the compressor via the Evaporator Core, to once again be compressed into a high pressure Freon Gas. The low pressure liquid Freon passing through the Evaporator is what produces the cooling of the Evaporator Coil. The size of the Compressor, Evaporator Core, Condenser Core, Fan Size, and amount of Gas are the determining factors as to the BTU rating of a particular Conditioner.
